The Day of Music Die

A self-portrait from Michael Jackson via cartoonssell

Michael Jackson

許多人上YouTube回顧MJ經典的music video (MV),且在留言欄上留下 R.I.P. from 某國家

I can't give you anything but my love !

Well, Yes and No.

You make me feel brand now."  "You are everything." 但對不熟悉此樂團的台灣觀眾,名氣還是沒有 "I can't give you anything but my love."

If I had money I'd go out

Buy you furs dress you like a queen

And in a chauffeured limousine we'd look so fine

But I'm an ordinary guy

And my pockets are empty

Just an ordinary guy

But I'm yours 'till I die

I can't give you anything but my love but my love

I can't give you anything but my love but my love

I can't give you anything

I cannot promise you the world

Can't afford any fancy things

But girl I give you all I own

I cannot buy you diamond rings

No string of pearls

But my devotion I will give all my love just to you girl

My devotion I will give for as long as I live

I can't give you anything but my love but my love

I can't give you anything but my love but my love

I can't give you anything

I can't give you anything

I can't give you anything anything but my love but my love

I can't give you anything but my love but my love

I can't give you anything but my love

I can't give you anything but my love.
I can't give you anything 視為否定句,所以若要連接下文,通常要用反意的對等連接詞 but (但是)。
如:
"Can you come to my birthday party?"
"I am sorry, but I can't."

【Camera Obscura - Lloyd, I'm ready to be heart broken】

He said “I’ll protect you like you are the crown jewels” yet
Said he’s feeling sorrier for me the more I behave badly I can bet

Hey Lloyd I’m ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can’t see further than my own nose at this moment

Jealousy is more than a word now I understand
You can stay a girl while holding a boy’s hand

Hey Lloyd I’m ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can’t see further than my own nose at this moment
Hey Lloyd I’m ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can’t see further than my own nose at this moment
At this moment

I’ve got my life a compilation here to sort out
I’ll take myself to an east coast city and walk about

Hey Lloyd I’m ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can’t see further than my own nose at this moment
Hey Lloyd I’m ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can’t see further than my own nose at this moment
Hey Lloyd I’m ready to be heartbroken
'Cause I can’t see further than my own nose at this moment
At this moment
*****
1. I can't see further than my own nose Someone see no further than the end of one's nose.
Ex: Tommy is so selfish; he can't see further than his own nose.

2. jealousy:
Ex: It is difficult to distinguish jealousy from envy.

3. You can stay a girl while holding a boy's hand.
You can't stare a girl while holding a boy's hand.
You can't stand out while holding a boy's hand.
You can't stand guard while holding a boy's hand

Ex: Did you sort out the mess?
*****
P.S. I Love You的片頭曲,我認識了Camera Obscura。
(They are not my cup of tea)。

Give her a break!

I think she just ate an extra waffle at breakfast and is a little bloaty [bloated].

短詞Quickly:
A is pregnant with B's baby.

I LOVE YOU】

Source: Google Photo

1.

Gerry: “Oh, no.  I don’t know what I said.”
Holly: “You said it.  You know you said it.”
Gerry:  “No, I don’t know what I said, but I didn’t mean it.”
Holly:  “Yes, you did.  You mean everything you say.”
Gerry:  “Oh, sometimes I mean nothing when I say something.”
Holly:  “Something is never nothing.  It’s always something.”
Gerry:  “Well, most of what I say is nothing.  It’s just something to say.”
Holly:   “No, men just say something in order to get away with saying something, but they know they’re saying something every time they say it.”
2.
Denies: “Ooh, he’s delicious, isn’t he?  You could serve coffee on that ass.”
John:  “Do you have to be so vulgar about men, like they’re pieces of meat?”
Denies:  “I’m sorry, John.  I forgot you’re sensitive about your flat ass.”
John:  “You know, Denise, that’s why you’re not married.  Women act like men, then they complain men don’t want them.”
Denies:  “Oh, is that why?  Okay.  Because I thought it was something different.  I thought it was because I thought that I deserve the best.  And he’s out there.  He’s just with all the wrong women.  And let me be clear.  After centuries of men looking at my tits instead of my eyes and pinching my ass instead of shaking my hand… I now have the divine right to stare at a man’s backside with vulgar, cheap appreciation if I want to.”

【蛇餐 - Snake Set】

Source: Student Post Dec. 28, 2008 – Jan. 3, 2009

原文:
Early in the afternoon, the street famous for its snakes had most of its shops still closed, waiting for nightfall.  While the street was relatively quiet compared to what I had read about it being like in the past, filled with snake charmer and people hawking snake blood all over the place, I was not at all disappointed by the snake restaurant.

At the very front of the restaurant, at least 20 snakes crawled around in a large cage.  I didn’t know what kind of snake they were at first and wondered if they were deadly hundred pacers, but it turned out that they were just rat snakes.  I eagerly anticipated drinking snake blood, but hoped that they would not kill the snake in front of me.  If I had to I wouldn’t mind watching a snake being killed, but I’d prefer not to.  Fortunately, this restaurant had snake blood already available, so they didn’t have to kill a snake just for me.

The set I ordered included snake blood, venom, gallbladder and snake soup with snake meat in it.  The bright read blood, mixed with alcohol, had very little flavor apart from the alcohol.  The cloudy white venom was a bit stronger, and the yellow-with-green-flecks gallbladder tasted extremely bitter.  Compared to the other parts of the set, the soup and meat seemed quite ordinary, tasting like fish.  I’d be willing to have the snake soup again, but now that I’ve done it once, I don’t think I’ll order blood, venom and gallbladder again any time soon.

*****
生字:
hundred pacer(s): 百步蛇。
rat snake(s):錦蛇。

hawk (hawks, hawking, hawked)
  1. If someone hawks goods, they sell them by walking through the streets or knocking at people’s houses, and asking people to buy them.
  2. You can say that someone is hawking something if you do not like the forceful way in which they are asking people to buy it.

venom
You can use venom to refer to someone’s feelings of great bitterness and anger towards someone. i.e. “What a filthy trick,” she said with great venom.
venomous
If you describe a person or their behavior as venomous, you mean that they show great bitterness and anger towards someone. i.e. He heaped abuse on Waite and made venomous personal attacks.
While the street was relatively quiet …, filled with snake charmer and people hawking snake blood all over the place

Compared to the other parts of the set… meat seemed quite ordinary, tasting like fish.

(1) The street was filled with snake charmer and people, (2) and the people were hawking snake blood all over the place.

1. The global financial crisis has given rise to many harebrained (輕率的) schemes around Asia (see: Japan, stimulus plan of), and to that list add Taiwan's latest policy outing: shopping coupons worth $ 100 for every man, woman and child.

二為:“with no more sense than a hare“:反應跟一隻野兔差不多。

2. The giveaway (贈品) is slated to (預定.../安排...) start in time for the Chinese New Year holidays early next year and will set the government back some $83 billion Taiwan dollars ($ 2.5 billion).

Our English teacher has slated writing class for Tuesday afternoon.

3. Mr. Ma will have to look elsewhere for meaningful stimulus.  Rather than saddling future taxpayers with debt for what will be at best a slight temporary relief, better to boost the economy by butting taxes and reforming inefficient regulatory structures.

Rather than (A), better to (B)...

5. A policy that may be politically popular today won't be smart economics tomorrow.
